About
The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca is the successor of the prestigious Higher School of Agriculture of Cluj, founded 145 years ago, in October 1869, under the name of Institute of Agronomic Studies, Cluj-Manastur. In 1906, the Institute reached the Academy level, becoming the Academy of Agriculture of Cluj.
Mission
The goal of the university is to promote the excellence in the field of education, research and innovation by primary academic initial and postgraduate instruction, by life long learning and integration within the universal value system according to the requirements of a knowledge based society.
Organization
The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca comprises faculties, departments, a library, research units, museums, cafeterias, administrative and technical services, establishments for practical training, recreation, social services, etc.

The development of a university requires that certain quantitative and qualitative parameters be attained in order to ensure the increment of the performance and competitiveness of the university nationwide as well as internationally.
Facilities
The university encourages and supports the cultural life and the practice of sports,providing diverse activities so that the students and the local community manifest the skills and interests in a pleasant and organized way.
Botanic garden and museums
Situated on the terrain of the USAMV Cluj campus, the Agrobotanic Garden shelters over 1800 vegetal species that can be admired by the visitors. Considering the fact that the Garden was created in 1903, in the vicinity of the ruins of a monastery from the XI century, it is probable that some of the species they had grown were preserved, as the monks had a medicinal herb garden and a pharmacy. In the beginning, with a surface of half a hectare, the Agrobotanic Garden was extended in 2007, reaching its actual surface of almost 7 hectares.
Initially designed as collections with academic educational and research purpose, the 3 museums of the university are meant today to be visited by the public having an educational, informational and documentary purpose.

The scientific results valorized by the collection of publications of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca reflect the objectives of educational and scientific excellence.
Library
The libraries represent the place where information is kept, systemized and conveyed. Furthermore, beside its functional role, a university library seldom has a social role, being the place where students and professors exchange ideas and conceive new projects.
